Redheads and Anaesthesia
I am married to a redhead. My wife has had both knees replaced. During the replacement surgery, her doctor played "Queen" in the surgical suite. As he was prepping, he heard this voice from beneath the drape singing "We will rock you..." She was supposed to be under. Deeper, he told the anesthetist. Deeper. Now anytime she has a surgical procedure we mention the need for extra measures of anesthetic. Most of the anesthetists have heard of this situation but for those who have not, I refer them to Google. You will find many articles referring to this phenomenon. It also applies to pain killers. I became interested and did the Google research for myself. Most redheads will readily agree with this. They mention childbirth, oral surgery, etc. It doesn't work if you dye your hair red. |
